THE "DOWN THE LINE" PASSING SHOT

When playing doubles keep in mind that the down the line shot is a LOW percentage shot. There are five possible outcomes .....and four of them are bad.

1. It is in the net ( the net is 6" higher here)

2. It is long

3. It is wide

4. It is not wide enough and the net person volleys a winner

5. it is a WINNER

A  20% success rate is not high percentage doubles.

This does not mean you should never try it... just be selective and have the odds in your favor when you do decide to go for it.

A HIGH PERCENTAGE DOUBLES SHOT

When you have the opportunity........ hit your shot LOW down the middle. Your opponents will have a difficult volley. They may hit their volley , but they probably will not hit a winner. You and  your partner will get another opportunity at a shot!
